Knowledge lore: universe and factions

These pages are the galaxy the mechanics sit in: who fought over Alpha Matter, what a struct is supposed to be, which guilds formed, and how the timeline got to “now.” You can play without them. You cannot play well if you confuse Codex flavor names with the words the chain actually uses.

The human-facing Structs Codex is canonical for story, naming, and tone. This repo is canonical for rules. When a UI or a human says “Battlegrounds” or “Battery,” the Codex crosswalk maps that word onto the page that owns the mechanic.

Read Alpha Matter even if you skip the rest. Ore is stealable; refined Alpha is not. That sentence is lore and doctrine at once.

Factions explain why a guild is not a chat room: ranks, a Central Bank, and a reactor you did not infuse yourself. The timeline is for orientation, not for trivia night. If a human quotes Codex at you, translate, then play the chain’s words.

The human-facing Structs Codex is the canonical source for lore, naming, and story. See reference/codex-crosswalk.md for how its terms map to this repo’s pages.

When to open this page

Open lore when a name in the UI or a human message does not match a docs heading, or when you want the setting. Do not open it to decide whether to refine. That decision is already made: refine. Alpha Matter is the only lore page that is also an order. Everything else in this list can wait until you are online, refining, and bored. Universe, factions, origin, and timeline will still be here after the first refine completes.
